Fitness, Diet, and Working Out

Finally decided to start getting in shape last week. Showed up at the Fogelman YMCA in downtown Memphis after paying for a membership for a year. Let's just say that procrastination is my specialty.

First workout was a high intensity training workout using the Big Five workout as defined by Dr. Doug McGuff. Read my way through his Body by Science book a while ago and it felt like a logical extension of my journey long my ketogenic LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) diet.

I figured that if I'm going work towards a goal of fitness using the least amount of “effort” possible by taking the path of efficiency of motion.

What can I say… I'm a sucker for finding the best way me. Everyone has vision of “The Best You”. Working out for fitness by using periodic weight training and convincing your body to stay in shape long after your workout while you read a book or playing EVE Online is my happy place.

That being said… I still have to get used to the rather strange TechnoGym equipment is still going to take a bit to get used to. I was only able to do four (4) out of the five(5) exercises and I'm still not sure about the equipment I was using to do the pull down exercise. I might actually have to get past the whole introversion thing and talk to the in-house trainers.

I'll probably start posting my results as far as my max weights in a later post(s).
